While ice is forming in the bays and harbors, many of the southern and central river mouths remain accessible for those hardy enough to brave the cold. Water temperatures are hovering in the high 30s ($35 \text{ to } 39^\circ\text{F}$), which has concentrated fish in specific thermal pockets.Top Species & TacticsSteelhead: The winter run is in full swing. We are finding active fish in the lower reaches of the tributaries and near harbor pier heads. High-visibility jigs tipped with waxworms or spawn sacks have been the most consistent producers during mid-day "warmth."Brown Trout: The shallow nearshore shelf is currently home to some hungry Browns.
